From My Hometown
Conceived by Lee Summers

From My Hometown follows the heart tugging story of three young soul singers from Philadelphia, Detroit (by way of Chicago) and Memphis (by way of Nashville) who meet at the world famous Apollo Theatre in 1980 in search of the American Dream of fame and fortune. Competing with each other, the three men brag on their respective musical traditions leading to a stylistic sing-off pitting southern funk against Motown and the silky Philly sound. The new friends form a group 'Unity' and take us on a ten year journey to stardom.

Featuring hit after hit such as "I Feel Good" (James Brown), "Lonely Teardrops" (Jackie Wilson), "Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay" (Otis Redding), "Chain Gang" (Sam Cook), "I Love Music" (O'Jays), "Have You Seen Her" (Chi Lites) and "Hold On I'm Coming" (Sam & Dave) From My Hometown will set your feet stomping and your heart thumping. With its successful 2004 Off-Broadway run at the Gramercy Theatre, From My Hometown packs three decades of top 40 hits from the Motown era, the Philly sound and Memphis Stax - plus all-new songs - into one beboppin', do-woppin', heart-stoppin' musical."
