You’ve seen the musicals about felines, cross-dressing nuns, teapots and candlesticks, old French flags, helicopters, flying pigs, singing murderesses, falling chandeliers, and lousy navigation through an ice field. Now I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change scores a triumph for that long neglected special-interest group: Hopeful Heterosexuals.
Everything you’ve secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives, and in-laws, but were afraid to admit, is celebrated in this musical joyride through the jungle of modern-day mating game.
With four actors playing over forty roles in a collection of scenes and songs scaling the dizzying spectrum of male/female relationships, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change reveals the difficulties and joys of connecting with another person, no matter what age.
I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change opened at the Westside Theatre in New York on August 1, 1996. Critics and audiences cheered and debut of this new musical revue, which Gannett Newspapers hailed as “Hilarious! The most entertaining show on or off Broadway!”. And according to the Star-Ledger, it’s “a great first date show. A perfect mating dance! It’s Seinfeld set to music!” The New York production marked its 1000th performance on December 26, 1998. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change has also enjoyed record breaking runs in Los Angeles, Toronto, Detroit, Miami and London.
