John Astin in Edgar Allen Poe - once upon a midnight
Written by Paul Day Clemens and Ron Magid
Directed by Alan Bergmann

On the stage of darken theater, “a palace of illusion,” Poe appears as a ghostly guide to take you on a “journey of the soul,” in search of a “wilder beauty than earth supplies.”

With flashes of great humor and a tender, moving account of Poe’s love affair with is wife, Virginia, Astin takes us through Poe’s life and his frequent battles with himself (and alcohol), revealing both the horror and beauty of the demons which so profoundly influenced his work. You will experience The Raven, Annabel Lee, The Telltale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher, and many other Poe treasures as they erupt from the passion, mystery and madness of Poe’s life.

"Astin...is illuminating!"
-- The Chicago Tribune

"Wearing a black frock coat and haunted gaze, John Astin emerges from the shadows of the stage looking as spectral as a raven... Stephen King Can’t event come close to making horror as silky and seductive."
 -- Tampa Tribune
