SELF HELP: THE COMEDY is a fast-paced, wildly entertaining two-woman self-help parody, starring writers and performers Debbie Kasper (writer for Roseanne, and The Rosie O’Donnell Show) and Sheila Kay (two-time American Comedy Award nominee), each one playing multiple outrageous characters who have gathered together to give us the self-help secrets to success. This de-motivational comedy parodies the stream of self-help workshops and Dr. Phil type shows sweeping the nation.

This interactive seminar takes comedy theatre to the next level. It is the perfect blend of such mega hits as GREATER TUNA and TONY AND TINA’S WEDDING with the energy and pace of MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL. They poke fun at men, women, self-esteem, self-help, body image, women's rights and men's wrongs.

These self-possessed women bring on a cavalcade of motivational speakers to help everyone achieve their evening’s goals including, new age Psychotherapist, Dr. Simpatico, who has a doctorate in self-esteem. Dr. Simpatico claims that "the secret to self-love is looking at yourself naked in a mirror, without having to drink vodka." She makes body-conscious seminarees repeat affirmations like, “I’m not fat I’m just too big for my head.”

One of the evenings highlights is ex-Mafia wife, Carmella Gambino who slays them with her own brand of self-help claiming, “My husband bought me a mood ring so he always knows what mood I’m in. It works too. When I’m in a good mood its green and when I’m in a bad mood it leaves a big friggin red mark on his head!” Zelda Bing, a self-proclaimed man magnet and author of the book, "What A Man Wants In A Woman And How He Gets It In There," teaches the women how to get any man they want using her techniques. According to Zelda, “There are men everywhere - if you lower your standards.” Dr. Candy Box, a ninety-eight year old relationship sexpert, brings the house down as she answers questions from the audience about sex. Candy exclaims “I once had a fantasy about two men at the same time, one of them was cooking and the other was cleaning - now that's a fantasy!”

Other drop-in guests round out the evening with their uproariously silly self-help, which is really no help at all, making it a hilarious evening of chakrah dances, zany meditations, abundance exercises, ridiculous affirmations and outrageous flirting techniques all geared to elevate the self-esteem in the room, and then get you to buy lots of merchandise!
